The love for local small business runs very deep around the Rock City network. When I began Rock City Times in 2012 a big part of the goal was to make the city a better place by raising awareness of local businesses to a massive audience through humor. Later in 2013 I decided to expand on that by connecting people with some of the outstanding food served by local restaurants with Rock City Eats.
Now, starting in 2015, I want to take what we have done promoting and highlighting locally owned restaurants to local shops and stores across the metro area with this space, Rock City Shops.
I have been fortunate enough over the past year to have an amazing team of writers join in the vision for supporting local through Rock City Eats. Because of this team Rock City Eats has succeeded in raising awareness and covering the news of locally owned restaurants to a level that truly honors the hard work and passion that the business owners put into their own locations.
Restaurants are only one piece of the local business puzzle. There are hundreds of shops and stores across the metro owned locally employing hard working neighbors all contributing to the local economy. We want to take parts of what we have learned highlighting restaurants combined with new ideas and showcase these shops.
Several members of the Rock City Eats team will also contribute here, additionally we will look for new writers with a passion for small shops. If you think you fit this and want to write feel free to drop us a message. Don’t worry about Rock City Eats however, 2015 is going to be a huge year.
Expect to see things start rolling out after the first of the year. In the mean time like us on Facebook and keep an eye on this space.
